"The only club in Southern Ontario and New YorkState dedicated to the music of THE SHADOWS - where guitarists, bassists, keyboard players and drummers can perform their music in front of a live audience."
A "Club Night" consists of an evening of live cabaret-style entertainment performed by TSC members who take turns on stage with their guitars, basses, drums, harmonicas and keyboards. Some musicians perform in organized bands, some have formed bands since joining the club, while others play together in different lineups or perform solo accompanied by backing tracks. The emphasis is on playing and enjoying the music, in particular the music of THE SHADOWS.
Club nights are held every 6 weeks or so at Sydney's Island Restaurant on Dixie Road, just south of Hwy 401, in Mississauga, Ontario. Sydney's is an excellent little nightclub, with a bar and full menu table service.
Please contact either Colin or David if you would like to perform at one of our Club Nights and we'll be happy to accommodate you.
GEAR and EQUIPMENT
The TSC provides the basic equipment for use on club niights. A pair of vintage VOX AC-30 amplifiers on stands, effects racks, a bass amplifier, and a drum kit are set-up on stage for performers to use. The guitar amps are mic'd as also are the kick and snare drums. These audio signals, along with those from the vocal mic's are fed via a 16-5 multi-channel snake to the front of house mixing desk from where both the stage monitors and house mix are controlled. The objective is provide the very best musical environment for both the performers and the audience.
Guitarists must bring their own instruments and can choose to use their own effects or those provided by the club. Levels are set during sound check so when you're on all you have to do is plug and play. Please do not alter the amplifier volume or tone settings. If your level is too loud on stage there is nothing that the sound engineer can do to reduce it and make it right at the mixing console.
Drummers are required to bring: a snare drum and stand; a hi-hat and stand; a kick drum pedal; cymbals; and of course sticks and brushes.
Please tune up before going on stage and be ready to perform at your appointed time. Performers are allocated a time slot - not a guaranteed number of tunes. This slot includes both set up and tear down time. If you exceed your scheduled time, you are taking time away from all those who perform later in the evening.
These guidelines are in place in order to make our events run as smoothly and professionally as possible. Remember the whole idea is to have fun and to celebrate the music of The Shadows.
Backing Tracks
Many of our performers enjoy playing to "Backing Tracks". You can think of a Backing Track as karaoke for guitars. Backing Tracks are recordings containing only the rhythm section and no lead. We play your backing track audio CD's or Mini-Disks from the sound mixing desk while you play along with them on stage.
We have numerous Backing Track available. If you would like to play a few numbers, please contact us ahead of time so that we can have the tracks ready and cued.
